Our Beginnings…

Polar Air Conditioning (Scotland) Ltd was established in 2009 by Directors Craig Ritchie and Raymond McWilliams. It was set up as an air conditioning and refrigeration installation company and worked closely with end users and mechanical contractors to design, install and commission various climate solutions for businesses, shops and privately owned property throughout Scotland.

As our customer base grew it became apparent that the next logical step was to provide a means of service, maintenance and all round aftercare for the installations we carried out and other existing equipment our clients already had.

Therefor in 2017 we approached Brian McGroarty, a highly experienced HVAC service engineer to come onboard and join us in establishing a dedicated, trusted and professional Facilities management company. Polar Building Services (Scotland) Ltd was formed and once again quickly built long lasting relationships with a variety of businesses and end users which continues to grow.

Now having both companies and being able to provide a more complete service it allowed our FGAS engineers to hone their skills on different disciplines and in turn has made our team a very professional, experienced and highly respected group.

In 2021 we once again found ourselves in the fortunate position to be able to expand. It made sense that an Electrical division would go hand in hand with the businesses we already had. Through various M & E contracts we worked along with Jonathan Travers who was running a very large electrical department but who had the clear ambition to be part of a company that he had more than just a managerial role in. Therefor it seemed like natural progression and JRS Electrical and Mechanical Ltd was founded as part of the Polar group of companies. The company hit the ground running and has quickly grown under Jonathan to carry out all aspects of Electrical services from specialist installations to fully compliant testing and reactive servicing.

Polar as a whole cover a wide variety of contracts throughout Scotland, we are as much at home carrying out start to finish mechanical and electrical installations and maintenance for end users as we are working in conjunction with other contractors and service providers on large commercial projects.
